I found a Dooney and Bourke bag for $5. (Actually only $4.75 since I found a quarter inside it when I got home.) It looked expensive and well-made and like it could possibly be pretty functional. I'm pretty sure it's a knock-off and not really worth like $300. But that's ok since I'd never even heard of Dooney and Bourke bags before yesterday.
My favorite finds were books. I picked up 14 chapter books for only 25 cents apiece. And only 2 of them were ones I already owned! (Does anyone want a free copy of Muggie Maggie or Ramona the Pest?)
I also scored a copy of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, which is on my list to read to the girls this coming school year.
Other than that, I mostly just picked up some clothes. I managed to find quite a few for only a quarter or dime. Those are the clothes that will be worn when making mud pies in the tin pie plates I grabbed for 50 cents each.
The girls were begging to play at the park. At first I said no. Then I said yes.
But it was almost lunch time. So I told them we'd find a snack and then go play for a while. We ended up having Bugles and cheese sticks for lunch. I'm a great mom. Oh, and suckers on the way home. I told them we'd have fruit when we got home, but they were so excited to go make mud pies that it never happened. They did have pineapple on their pizza last night. Pretty sure I'm in the running for Mom of the Year.
Last night I made the older girls go take a shower (after the mud pie madness). By the time they were done, they were both wailing. Kamryn said, "Kyla put her foot on my leg!" Kyla said, "Kamryn pushed me!" Not their finest moments. But they ended the day playing together for a long time with stuffed animals on the floor and then giggling in bed until I told them in no uncertain terms that they had to go to sleep. Maybe I should have let them giggle a little longer. I forget sometimes that they're only 5 and 2.
We're invited to a birthday party tonight. Since the invitation was only given yesterday, I didn't have time for my friend Amazon to deliver to me via my other friend, the UPS driver, some cute little gift. I was told that we didn't need to bring a gift, but, arggh, showing up to a 2-year-old's birthday party without something wrapped in pink is slightly heartbreaking. So I hunted my house and found an adorable dress that is size 2T and still has the tags on. A re-gift it will have to be. I will not be ashamed. At least I have something to wrap up.
And now for Cuteness Saturday.
Kiahna managed to get a hold of Kamryn's spoon after Kamryn got done eating her oatmeal. It made her list of Top Ten Most Exciting Moments in My Short Life.
Have a great weekend!
