The Pantry

"Pull up a chair.  Take a taste.  Come join us.  Life is so endlessly delicious." - Ruth Reichl

That's the quote I would put in my pantry if I had a spot to put it.  My dear, sweet hubby built me this amazing pantry earlier this year, and I just have to share it.  It was quite the project, but the end certainly justified the means.

It started one day when I left Bryan home for the day while I went to Sioux Falls.  I came home to find that he'd torn out an old closet in downstairs bedroom and the wall that connected to the platform at the top of the basement stairs (which is right off the kitchen).  I looked and said, "Oh!  You're building me a pantry!"  He was like...umm...ok, I'm building you a pantry.  It really wasn't in his mind that way, but he went along with it.  Then we decided to tear out a wall to make it a much bigger pantry.  I told him I wanted to paint it something very bright and happy.  He right away vetoed pink and purple.  So I suggested green, and he picked out the paint.

And the can rack?  Oh wow...talk about a space saver!  He found the idea on YouTube and watched a video showing him how to make it.  I painted it. (It took 10 hours just to paint!!)  But I love it.  That space is a very narrow space and does not have room for shelving, but the can rack fits there perfectly.

Gotta say...it's my favorite room in the house!!

Oh, what a dusty mess it was!!

What lovely wallpaper we found when we tore off the paneling in the spare room!

The making of the can rack.  :)

And now...for the finished product.  I cannot say how much I love it!
