The Old Is Gone; The New Has Come!

Our office spent this week moving into a new building.  This has been a long time in the coming, and it was much anticipated.  What a great feeling to finally be there!!  When I started working for the firm, I had a cubicle.  After I came back from maternity leave with Kyla, my cubicle was taken; so I was placed at a desk in the basement.  It wasn't bad, aside from the fact that it was in the basement.  Then, when a new lawyer was hired and took my spot, I got moved back upstairs to a counter that was never really intended to be a workplace.  Someone generously donated a 2-drawer filing cabinet for my use, but I had almost no room to work at all.  I have been there since this past August, eagerly awaiting a bigger area!

This is where I spent the last 7 months:

The good thing was that I sat in front a reflective glass.  I could always see if anyone was standing behind me before I complained about the bosses.  ;)

This is the cubicle that was directly behind me:

That cubicle was one of four that sat back-to-back in a square.  So there were five of us in that small room, with the receptionist in a little aclove off to one side.

I was eagerly looking forward to moving week.  Unfortunately, I was informed right away Wednesday morning before the movers came that I was being benched for the duration.  Thus, my job was to stay behind at the old office to answer phones while everyone else moved.  Wednesday wasn't too bad, but by Thursday I was out of stuff to do.  So I bought Kyla a "Big Sister" shirt and read numerous articles about preparing for a second child.  :)  I read that from Kyla's perspective, it would be for me as if Bryan were to bring home a pretty little wife and tell me that this was his new wife, and he was going to spend a lot of time with her, and that even though she would cry and scream a lot, I needed to be nice to her.  I started to feel really sad for Kyla and made up my mind to make sure she feels extra special after the baby comes.  Bryan volunteered to take Kyla out for ice cream right after the baby is born.  (Big sacrifice, right? :) )

Finally, the phones got turned off at the old office today, and I got to head over to the new office to unpack.  Hooray!!  Loving all the space!  This is where I moved!

What you see is half of the cubicle I share with one other lady.  Her half looks identical to mine.

I was trying to find a cute desktop organizer, and after discovering that Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Shop-Ko all lacked in that department, this is what I came up with:

I'm actually excited to go to work next week!! :)

Big Sister-to-be and Mommy in Training!

What a gorgeous day!!  I worked half the day, then picked up Kyla at daycare, got a few snacks, and went to a park to play.  She enjoys everything, but her favorite things are the slides.  Up and down, over and over!

When we got home, she was ready to crash for a nap.  After naptime, she was ready to head back out into the beautiful day!  On one of our trips out to see the sheep and the cows, Kyla had to take her baby out with her.  She carefully cradled her baby all the way out there and then showed the animals to her baby.  Just couldn't resist posting a few of the pics I took.

After we came back inside, it was Play-Dough time.  Baby got to be a part of that as well!

This little girl is ready for a little brother or sister, that's for sure!!  Last night as we were rocking, I put her hand on my tummy; and she got to feel the baby kick.  Her eyes got big as she looked up at me.  I asked her if she felt the baby kick, and she kept saying, "Baby kick!  Baby kick!"

The Last 6 Months

I didn't intentionally take a six-month leave of absence from my blog.  One week of not writing led to a month which led to six.  Obviously, I do not qualify as a dedicated blogger.  Here's to doing better!

Everyone who reads this knows all the big news from the past half-year.  Kyla's a two-year-old now, and her baby brother or sister is only a few short months from meeting her.

Kyla had a lot of fun at her birthday party.  One of my favorite pics from the day is of Kyla and her Grandma Bork playing dress-up after the party.

So just a couple weeks ago, this was how Kyla and I spent our time outside.

And now?  70 degree weather in March!  I think everyone's spirits are floating a few yards higher these days.  Sitting at work was so nice today with the door wide open and the beautiful fresh air coming in.  Kyla and I made a fast stop at a park after I picked her up from daycare so that she could go down the slide a few times.
Another sign that spring is just around the corner is all the babies running around our place...baby cows and baby sheep!  We have ten heifers that have either calved or about to calve.  We are also temporarily home to about 100 ewes and their 140 lambs.  Kyla loves to go look at the cows and the sheep.

Kyla's cute comment of the day was when we drove into the John Deere lot this evening to pick up Bryan from work, she said, "Tractor broke.  Daddy fix."  :)

Ok, off to bed for me.  My poor tired husband who has already lost enough sleep this week trying to assist in the delivery of his calves is now on a fire call and may be there a while yet.  But one of us has got to sleep, right?  And I'm sleeping for two these days...
